The spreading depression: experimental model for migraine auras.
10% of the population suffers from migraines. We have used chicken eyes (or more precisely just the eye cup, containing the retina) to generate slow propagating waves, visible with the naked eye, called “spreading depression” waves. Then we developed two models to understand the experiments and what that means for migraine patients.
